The Green New Deal (GND) bargaining and negotiating framework is now 3 years old and we are beginning an evaluation process to better understand how to improve the framework, how to better support branches and green reps and ultimately deliver a just transition for our members in workplaces.
In order to do that we need to understand the challenges that members face as well as the opportunities that bargaining for the future and specifically climate bargaining can present to UCU members in their workplaces and local communities. In terms of national bargaining Just Transition climate demands have also been incorporated into national pay claims with some elements requiring local implementation.
We are particularly keen therefore to understand from those of you who are Green Reps how best we can support you to progress a Just Transition and Climate bargaining agenda in your branches, and specifically how we can move towards a proactive ‘bargaining for the future’ strategy.
This survey is directed to those UCU members who are already Green Reps or who have expressed an interest in the union’s climate related work and are on our discussion list. This survey will be followed by focus groups with the aim of a broader branch survey once the initial stages are complete in order that questions are iteratively designed. We will then adapt or develop further bargaining guidance based on this evaluation, opening a consultation period to feed into it.
The following survey will around 10 minutes to complete and will help us capture information to improve bargaining guidance and resources.
Thank you for taking the time to complete it.
